The barrier films, manufactured by cast film lines, must meet high quality demands because of their intended use in the food and pharmaceutical sector where very stringent standards are required to meet. Our state-of-the-art cast film lines therefore feature a very high degree of automation and production monitoring capability to visualize and record all essential functions of the line. The operator of the cast film equipment is always able to maintain constant production conditions and fix problems immediately. Linking the manufacturing line through serial interfaces with the higher level operating systems allows storage of comprehensive production data.

Ensuring high standard layer thickness tolerances has been a paramount objective for the designers of our machines. Any film can only fulfil its intended function and meet the given industry standards when not only the total film thickness but also the individual layers are within tight tolerances. This is an essential requirement impacting on barrier properties, thermoforming or deep-draw capability, and economically efficient operation of the extrusion line. Unnecessarily high use of valuable and expensive raw materials such as polyamide or other resins in the multi-layer structure as a “safety allowance” can increase the share of material costs in a product.

We understand, it is crucial for our customers that the equipment we provide, the cast film line, can produce barrier film that meets the most stringent tolerance requirements. Therefore our machines‘ test production has been meticulously analysed and documented by laboratory evaluations using measurement of microtome cuts to control consistency of individual layers within multilayer film structures.
