|
On September 18, 2009, Finance Minister for the Canadian government, Jim Flaherty, made an announcement on planned elimination of all tariffs on imported manufacturing equipment. At the beginning of the year, there was already a legislative change introduced that lifted some of the import tariffs. The plan announced on Friday is planning to relieve all the remaining tariffs on manufacturing equipment imported to Canada. "The tariff-relief initiative now being considered follows from our economic action plan in January and would reduce production costs even further, providing both a short-term boost and a long-term competitive edge for Canadian industry," said the finance Minister. This is very exciting news for our industry. The government is projecting that manufacturing companies in Canada will be able to save $ 250 million a year once the tax relief proposal is ratified. We are looking forward to the legislation coming through as quick as possible. That will do great for our Canadian customers: they will be able to benefit from the $250 million saving and will enjoy an even greater Return On Investment on our plastic processing equipment. You can meet us is at the Pack Expo, 2009 in Las Vegas. We will be introducing some of our newest co-extrusion blown-film lines, slitter-rewinders and plastic bag making machines. Looking forward to seeing our Canadian customers at the expo and helping them to get ready to take advantage of the new tariff relief plan. Source: www.cbc.ca/money/story/2009/09/18 |
