Poly Bag Making Equipment- Purchasing Guide: 10 questions to ask

There is a wide range of different poly bag making equipment currently available in the market. In addition, requirements for poly bags are changing rapidly making it more difficult to find an appropriate solution which provides an optimal level of technical flexibility and ROI in the long run.

We appreciate that our clients have distinctly unique business and technical circumstances.  So when a customer inquires, we’ll take the time to carefully listen to their specific needs and gather as much information as possible regarding the specification of the machine which will suit them best.

Below are ten questions we’ll ask customers regarding the technical specification of the bag making equipment.

Specification of plastic bag manufactured by the bag making equipment

1) bagmachine-gz-r500-700What is the maximum length and width of the plastic bag? Within the maximum length and width size, the bag machines usually have the flexibility to produce bags in any size configuration.

2) What are the shapes of the poly bags you are planning to manufacture? The best solution is to provide the machine supplier with the blue print for all the bags you are planning to manufacture by the given equipment.

3) Will you need gusseting? Size and dimensions must be specified on the blueprint. In most cases, a gusseting feature can be added to the equipment after purchase.

4) Do you plan to have side sealed or bottom sealed bags? A given machine can be designed and configured so it is capable of manufacturing both types.

5) What type of plastic film are you planning to use for your bags? Usually, poly bag making equipments are quite versatile with the type of plastic film it can process. However, for optimal configuration it is important to know what type of plastic film material you’re planning to use for your bags. For example, the sealing process of the machine needs to be configured differently if the film is LLDPE or HDPE.
(Note: A plastic bag making machine for non-woven reusable bags is a distinctly different model than a regular poly bag making machine.)

6) What type of handle, if any, are you planning to have? Bag making equipment can be configured for a wide range of different handles such as die-cut, kidney die-cut, loop snap lock, or soft loop to name a few. The handles are created by a module on the main unit which can be changed if there is a switch from one type of bag to another.

7) What type of packing or stacking options are you planning to have? Beyond regular stacking, there are different stacking options available such as perforated roll-stock (a conventional grocery bag). In addition, one can configure for both wicketed and staple bags.

8) Are you planning to manufacture bags with special closure features? The bag making equipment can be ordered with several closure configurations. For example, one option enables you to produce draw string, tape string bag, or shoulder draw string bags. Plastic zip lock or courier bags such as tamper proof bags, are also available.
